Fynn has always been lazy: his favorite activities are skipping class, smoking, and lounging around. When his girlfriend breaks up with him, telling him to try doing something else for a change, he has no idea where to even start.
One night, on a walk around the neighborhood, he comes across Niko stargazing on a hill. Niko wants nothing to do with this chain-smoking, loud-mouthed guy getting in the way of his astronomy— but Fynn is intrigued.
What's up with this nerdy boy who loves to watch the stars, and why is Fynn so captivated by him?
Originally a Germany publication, Star Collector was awarded the Pochi Award for Best National Manga in 2016 at Germany's largest anime convention, Connichi, and it is written and illustrated by the winners of the 2014 Doujinshi Award—Anna Backhausen and Sophi Schönhammer.
Anna Backhausen (story and art) was born in 1995 and is currently studying Social Work at the University of Kassel, Germany. She loves showing off the quirks and peculiarities of people and society through her comics, and has been a member of the German comic and manga scene for some time now. In addition to her work, she enjoys going to the movies, meeting up with friends,
baking and scouring flea markets for treasure.
Sophie Schönhammer (story and layout) was born in 1991 and lives in Bavaria, Germany. She has always had a weakness for narrative media and consumes as much as she can. Due to her prolific work in the indie publishing scene she has prior experience in print, and enjoys tackling new projects. In her free time, she loves reading everyday stories.
Together, Sophie and Anna have already produced numerous self-published comics, and are the newest creators to be introduced as a part of TOKYOPOP’s International Women of Manga lineup.
Star Collector will be collected into two volumes and is published by Tokyopop. For more book information or steps on how to order, please see below. You can read a digital review copy of Star Collector Volume 1 on Edelweiss+.
