Graphic Novels Grew 16% in Book Market in 2016

According to a joint estimate from Comichron's John Jackson Miller and ICv2's Milton Griepp, graphic novel sales in the book market increased 16% to $405 million in 2016. The increase in annual sales growth of the graphic novel format was on top of strong growth from 23% in 2015 and 16% in 2014. Graphic novesl were the highest grossing format, beating out individual issue comic books ("floppies" or "pamphlets") and digital comics.

Presented at San Diego Comic Con, the 2017 WIll Eisner Award winners have been announced, including Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples for Best Continuining Series. See the full list here!

Monstress Wins Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story

Given annually in several categories for excellence in the fantasy genre, Image Comics' Monstress (9781632157096, $9.99) has won the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story!
